NetApp Cryptomod Has Passed CAVP Testing!

"The battle of wits has begun."

As part of the FIPS validation process there are several artifacts that need to be produced (or help the validation if they are produced).  One of those artifacts are the algorithm certificates for the cryptography used within the module.  There's a formal program to make sure due diligence was performed on the cryptographic algorithms.  That program is the Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP).  It is part of NIST.

The Low Down

This is a huge milestone: passing CAVP testing for NetApp Cryptomod, which is used by NetApp Volume Encryption (NVE) and the Onboard Key Manager (OKM).  This shows NetApp's commitment to security and NetApp's thought leadership.

Here are the certificate numbers.

AES: #4563
SHA: #3740
DRBG: #1510
HMAC: #3014
