Over the past few weeks the
security development team has been diligently working with the certification
lab to perform all the testing required on-site as well as producing the
paperwork required for FIPS 140-2. We passed the testing and officially
submitted the paperwork to NIST.
NetApp CryptoMod has moved from being a
“Module Under Test” to a “Module in Process”. This cryptographic module is used for NetApp Volume Encryption and the Onboard Key Manager.
The “Module in Process”
list is more significant because the fee is officially paid to the government,
and there are deadlines for content. This list indicates a company
commitment to drive their product through the entire validation. Now, the review is pending.
